Julie Rubin – Chair of the Board

Julie 224by308Julie Rubin is the Executive Director of Elevated Learning Academy, Alberta’s only post-secondary educational institution specializing in preventative health education. Through her 5 years of experience at Elevated Learning Academy of working within, and growing, the fields of Nutrition and Fitness, she has contributed to advancing and promoting a higher standard of knowledge, skill and regulation within both of these industries.

In addition to the field of education, Julie has also worked in community economic development, financial literacy, event management and community building. Julie’s education background includes a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Simon Fraser University and an Adult Education Certificate from Mount Royal University.

Julie is thrilled to be contributing to the work of the Canadian Council on Nutrition in ensuring that even more Canadians are getting access to accurate, safe and helpful Nutrition information.

 

Michele Rempel – Vice Chair of the Board

Michele

Michele is a learning professional with two decades of experience developing, delivering, and managing learning in academic, non-profit, and corporate organizations. She currently manages programs for clients of Xerox Business Services in the health services and construction industries. She is a member and contributor to the Institute for Performance and Learning and past president of the Popular Culture Association of Canada.

Michele is passionate about the power of action that happens when people come together to achieve the change that they want to see in the world. She holds a Certificate in Volunteer Management and Board Governance. She has served as board member of the Calgary Centre for Global Community, Varsity Courts General Council and the Popular Culture Association of Canada and volunteered with the SU Campus Food Bank, Into the Streets, and Foothills General Hospital.

Michele holds a PhD in English Literature from Northeastern University and is completing an MBA at the Haskayne School of Business. As a life long learner herself, she is excited about the continuing professional development opportunities available for members of the Canadian Council of Nutrition and the opportunity to help increase the public’s awareness of nutrition professionals.

 

Hani Khawaja – Director of the Board, Treasurer

Hani 224by308Hani Khawaja is an Affiliate of Western Management Consultants in Calgary with over 9 years of engineering and project management experience and over 4 years of management consulting experience focusing on Project Portfolio Management, Strategic Planning and Business Analysis, Business Process Improvement, and Operations Management.

Hani has an MBA from the University of Calgary. This post-graduate degree is in addition to his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering from McGill University in Montreal.  He is a member of APEGGA as a Professional Engineer with a P.Eng designation and is also a Certified Management Consultant (CMC – Canadian Association of Management Consultants), and certified in Change Management in accordance with Prosci methodologies and tools.

Hani currently volunteers at Immigrant Services Calgary,  and in the past has volunteered with Calgary Economic Development in navigating its 10-year strategic plan for the City of Calgary, as well as in work including strategy planning for the Canadian Association for Disabled Skiers, and Board Strategy and Governance review for the Calgary Horticultural Society.

 

Dev Ramgopaul – Director of the Board, Secretary

Dev 224by308Dev Ramgopaul has a decade of engineering, consulting and business development experience in the Canadian service provider industry and in assisting Canadian businesses and the public sector to better serve their customers and society. Dev’s passion is in transforming our world by creating societal impact through economic value creation and productivity growth in the digital economy. His goals is to solve society’s toughest challenges by utilizing technology to improve outcomes of all of humanity, our economy, and our environment.

Dev has an MBA from the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary, is a Certified Project Management Professional, and is a Professional Licensee Engineer with APEGGA.

Dev is passionate about the importance of food and nutrition in human development. He believes good nutrition is a human right and is committed to advancing and growing the Nutrition profession in Canada.
